Resolving conflict in the workplace

Effective and Early Intervention

1 day

Conflict in the workplace can be damaging to cohesive teamwork, and may lead to multiple problems such as low morale, individual and group stress, absenteeism, decreased productivity, staff attrition, and the associated financial impact. When conflict is resolved effectively it can lead to greater team cohesion and stronger mutual respect. However when conflict is unresolved it can quickly escalate from a minor difference of opinion into a crisis affecting the functioning of the entire team.

Achieving harmony in a team environment requires the ability to identify conflict and apply timely and appropriate intervention to resolve disputes. Early intervention is the key to dealing with conflict before it becomes a crisis. This one day workshop explores the causes, signs and styles of conflict in the workplace. It provides an insight into the underlying interpersonal dynamics that create, inflame and maintain conflict.

Suitable for managers, team leaders, supervisors and anyone who is responsible for the wellbeing of teams and/or organisations.

The workshop covers the following;

  • Early signs and identifying conflict in the workplace.
  • Common causes of conflict.
  • Understanding conflict style.
  • Why, who, when to intervene and when to seek outside assistance.
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution techniques.
