Body language is a form of non-verbal communication which consists of body posture, gestures, facial expressions and eye movements. Humans send and interpret such signals almost entirely subconsciously. It has been suggested that 50-60% of meaning in communication is derived from non-verbal behaviour. Body language conveys a meaning which depends on the physical, social and cultural context of the action, and therefore learning to interpret and understand non-verbal signals is crucial within in a business setting.

In this half day experiential workshop, participants will gain an understanding of:

  • Body language as a form of non-verbal communication.
  • The principles of body language.
  • Territories, zones, ownership and personal space as part of non-verbal behaviour.
  • Eye contact, touch and physical appearance as non-verbal cues.
  • Aggressive, assertive and non-assertive body language.
  • The cultural context of non-verbal behaviour.
  • Mirroring and using positive body language within a business setting.
