One Life Gatekeeper Training is a comprehensive and modern approach to reduce suicidal behaviour, which promotes family, school and workplace environments as avenues of social support.
Studies reveal that approximately eight out of ten people who take their own lives give definite warning signs of their suicidal intentions. Therefore it makes sense that the more people that are trained to be alert to these signs and have the skills to take appropriate action, the less the chance of a completed suicide.
One Life Gatekeeper Training is based on the premise that individuals at risk of suicide come into contact with a range of people prior to taking action. One Life Gatekeeper Training provides the acquisition of life skills that enhance individual and community abilities to support people at risk of suicide.
One Life Gatekeeper Training is a two day workshop designed to provide participants with a wide range of skills and knowledge to improve their ability and confidence to work with suicidal people and make referrals to professional help. One Life Gatekeeper ‘Train the Trainer’ is a three day workshop aimed at equipping participants with the skills and knowledge to become One Life Gatekeeper Trainers. Participants are required to have undertaken the two day One Life Gatekeeper workshop prior to attending.
