Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (Mediator) - ^NEW!

Module 2 & 3

The field of family dispute resolution has experienced an exponential growth in the past 18 months. The Federal Government has announced opening of another three Family Relationship Centres in WA in July 2008, one of them in Perth CBD. This will create an unprecedented demand for mediators. All registered FDR practitioners will need to become nationally accredited in July 2009.

Modules 1 and 4 can be taken at either Centrecare Mirrabooka or Midland offices. Offers to proceed to Module 4 will be made on a case-by-case basis. Priority will be given to those people who train with us.

MODULE DESCRIPTIONS:

   Module 1* - Observation of FDR practice
   This module provides future practitioners with an opportunity to observe 10 hours of    real-life FDR practice in action followed by discussion with the practioner.

   Module 2 - Theory and Practice of FDR
   This module covers basic concepts of theory and practice of FDR. Addionally, it includes    an overview of the relevant legislative framework.

   Module 3 - Power Issues in FRM
   This module focuses on power issues in FDR and how to manage them. It also deals    with DV, VROs and risk management issues.

   Module 4* - Supervised practice
   This module offers 10 hours supervised real-life practice experience.

Please Note:
   * Although Module 1 is not required for practitioner registration, it is Centrecare's    requirement that this Module is taken prior to taking Module 4. We strongly    recommend this Module be taken prior to taking Module 2 to enhance the    understanding of the theoretical frameworks presented in Modules 2 & 3.
   ** One of the registration requirements is possession of an appropriate degree    diploma or other qualification.
